Problem Statement¶
Bitcoin’s foundational security and decentralized nature make it the ideal base layer for the global financial system. However, Bitcoin suffers from key limitations:
1. Limited Smart Contract Functionality¶
Bitcoin's scripting language is intentionally restrictive, preventing advanced DeFi, programmable assets, or complex applications.
2. High Fees & Low Throughput¶
Bitcoin’s base-layer transactions are slow and expensive during peak congestion.
3. Fragmented Layer-2 Ecosystem¶
Current Bitcoin scaling solutions (Lightning, RSK, Stacks) each introduce trade-offs, such as custodial risks, trust assumptions, or limited developer tooling.
Satori addresses these issues by integrating the security of Bitcoin with the flexibility of Ethereum’s smart contract ecosystem.
